A plain-English guide to where to get expertise if you want to fly agricultural drones in New Zealand.
Who we are
Airex is a guide by the DroneTrust team. DroneTrust is a CAA Part 141 certificated drone training organisation (certificate TR104722).[1] We built Airex because the path to becoming an agricultural drone pilot runs across several regulators, and it's hard to find it explained in one place.
We're open about our connection: where this guide recommends a training provider, it recommends DroneTrust. Everything else, including the rules, the requirements and the costs outside training, links to the regulator, council or standards body that publishes it, so you can check it yourself.
How we check the information
- Every rule links to its primary source: the CAA, the New Zealand Gazette and legislation.govt.nz, WorkSafe, Standards New Zealand, Growsafe and regional council plans.
- Course prices and details come straight from DroneTrust's published course pages and exclude GST unless stated.
- Where sources disagree, or plan wording doesn't clearly fit drones, we say so rather than guess.
- We don't publish testimonials, statistics or claims we can't verify.
- Information was last checked on 28 September 2026.
